EDIH introduced in front of the Construction Sector the trainings starting this year

More than 40 trainings in different fields have been launched this year by the European Digital Innovation Hub in the Construction Sector (EDIH). The coordinator of the EDIH in the construction sector is the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC). The aim of the trainings is to support employees throughout the construction and investment process in the transition to digital transformation. Detailed information was presented at the “Opportunities and Prospects for Companies in the Construction Sector” forum organised by EDIH and BCC, which took place during the Architecture and Construction Week in Sofia. The forum was attended by representatives of dozens of companies from the construction business, as well as many experts from the sector. All of them were greeted by the President of BCC Engineer Ilian Terziev.
The progress and opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises were presented by the head of EDIH Maria Nakova, Eng. Lyubka Deneva, Head of the Department “Digitalization in Construction” at the BCC, Arch. Martin Hristov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria, Prof. Dr. Eng. Fantina Rangelova, President of the Bulgarian Project Management Association and Dr. Eng. Denitsa Savova-Georgieva, training expert at ESRI Bulgaria.
The trainings are aimed at architects, engineers, consultants, technical managers, as well as experts from design, consulting and construction companies and public organizations. In phases, EDIC will start to offer introductory seminars, practices in BIM /Building Information Modelling/, application of GIS /Geographic Information Systems/, modern methods of digitalization and automation, work with different types of software for mathematical and numerical modelling and CAD systems, testing of products and structures, new building materials and innovative technologies.
The aim of the trainings launched by EDIH is to prepare construction companies and public organisations for the transition to the digital transformation of the entire industry. These trainings will ensure connectivity at national level and in the real business, covering the entire lifecycle of sites – from design through construction, management and operation to the demolition of a building. The third key objective is to contribute to a more effective application of the principles of sustainable construction, smart buildings, circular economy, balancing the energy system by reducing carbon emissions and a better living environment.

EDIH trainings are in several categories. The first of these is introductory. They present knowledge on the basic principles of digital information handling and the accepted international and national standards for its management.

The next category of training is BIM or Building Information Modelling, which provides for the use of specific BIM software and the entire life cycle of buildings from design through construction management, operation to demolition and waste recovery.

Another category of training is in the application of geographic information systems (GIS), which can be combined with BIM and GIS applications to reduce the cost of building and operating infrastructure.

The remaining training categories are related to modern methods of digitalization and automation, working with different types of software for mathematical modeling and CAD systems, with testing of products and structures, as well as working with new building materials and innovative technologies.
