EDIH’s introductory course in Building Information Modeling (BIM) starts on Sept 30

The “Introduction to BIM” course of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) in the construction sector will be held in our training room within 4 days – on September 30 – October 1 and on October 8 – 9. Training is present, and its main goal is to increase the qualification of construction specialists by acquiring skills to use building information modeling (BIM) in the investment process.
The trainings related to the use of BIM capabilities are the largest in number – 20 in total, in the catalog of services of EDIH. In practice, BIM covers the entire life cycle of buildings – from design, through construction management and their operation to eventual demolition and waste utilization. And in this sense, construction information modeling is a key element not only for the digitization of the industry, but also for the development of the circular economy in Bulgaria. Specialized BIM training provides knowledge and skills for working with specific software for managing the entire construction-investment process in construction.
The introductory BIM course is designed for architecture, engineering and construction professionals such as architects, engineers, team managers and lead designers. The minimum requirements for participants are secondary technical education and professional experience in applying computer methods for using specialized software.
The course is divided into 7 modules that cover different aspects of BIM:
  1. An introduction to BIM that includes basic concepts and definitions, the history and development of BIM, and its impact on architecture, engineering and construction.
  2. BIM processes and standards.
  3. BIM software and tools.
  4. Collaboration and coordination in BIM, which includes information and data exchange between BIM software and formats, communication in BIM projects, coordination and collision detection, and collaboration and communication in a GeoBIM environment.
  5. Sustainability and BIM, which includes energy efficiency and BIM analysis, energy system modeling and renewable energy integration, as well as sustainable building certification and BIM application.
  6. BIM and asset management, which includes building life phases and BIM, asset management and BIM integration, BIM and building maintenance and operation management, BIM and GIS integration for maintenance and operation management of infrastructure facilities.
  7. ERP systems for managing the production and compliance of construction materials and products
Lecturers in the course are leading experts, university professors and proven specialists from the construction sector in Bulgaria.
